  • Abstract
    In this work the new single-phase three-zone AC-DC voltage converter is compared with the existing scheme of the four-zone rectifier used in electric locomotives. It is shown, that in the new scheme of the three-zone (n-zone in general) rectifier essentially decrease reverse voltage on thyristors. Analytical expressions for total harmonic distortion of output voltage, input current, control and external characteristics, as well as power factor are presented. The diagrams illustrating results of computer modelling are given. Total comparison shows essential reduction of expenses by power semiconductor devices.
