Abstract
State estimation constitutes the cornerstone of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA), since it provides the power system operating condition in successive time intervals. Among other functionalities, state estimation is responsible for identifying, and if possible eliminating, bad data which may be either bad measurements or network errors, such as erroneous network parameters. The performance of the state estimator can be improved considerably by incorporating synchronized phasor measurements in its measurement vector, along with the conventional measurements. Such a state estimation scheme is called hybrid. In this paper the impact of the hybrid state estimator in a network parameter estimation scheme will be examined. Further, a developed methodology for identifying erroneous branches based on the normalized residuals will be presented.
