Abstract
In order to enhance the educational function of children traffic safety education software, a task-independent, 3D animated virtual tutor has been developed in editable virtual traffic environment. The details of system structure and virtual tutorpsilas modules are described to illustrate how the problem was solved and how the expandable capability was installed. Based on the models, real traffic safety teacher can initiate virtual environment structure, traffic behavior definitions and conceptual knowledge segments. A demo which contains an overcrossing bridge and traffic lights, and runs on Virtools platform and Microsoft TTS engine, is showed. The result indicated that the models presented are competently and conveniently to achieve tutoring tasks.
