Abstract
In this contribution we propose an analysis of the polarizing capabilities of a single slab loaded with Artificial Magnetic Materials (AMM), operating at microwaves. To this end, we´ll present a general formulation valid for any characteristic property of AMM. Numerical results together with some remarks about possible practical implementations of the proposed components will be also given. It is demonstrated that if a medium with the proposed constitutive properties is achieved, then some of the very common problems of present day polarizers like, leakage in crossed polarizers and angular bandwidth can be mitigated. It is shown, also, that the introduction of AMM leads to a reduction of the overall dimensions of the component.
