Abstract
Summary form only given, as follows. One of the most important issues in environmental problem is contamination of the air by various industrial and commercial emissions. We therefore developed a portable microwave torch at atmospheric pressure by making use of magnetrons operated at the 2.45 GHz and used in a home microwave oven. This portable microwave torch is used to eliminate various air pollutants. Shoots emitted from diesel engines in bus, truck and ship are one of the major urban pollutants. A portable microwave torch operated by 1 kW power eliminates more than 65 percent of shoots from a 2000cc diesel engine. Sewage sludge is also eliminated through vitrification or burnout.
