Abstract
This paper presents a new switching algorithm for a five-phase voltage source inverter (VSI). In this method a space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) based on zero vector elimination is proposed to reduce voltage distortions. The new SVPWM has eight voltage levels to natural point in each phase. To verify the validity of the proposed method, a 2KW laboratory prototype with five-phase is implemented. The experimental result of the new method is compared with the conventional SVPWM for a same sampling time. The experimental results and simulation show that the new SVPWM has relatively lower THD and switching frequency.
