Abstract
In this paper, we propose a hybrid mobile communication approach rendered for the use in remote monitoring system. Based on the various mature, commercial and low cost mobile communication networks, the proposed technique can scheme multiple mobile communication modes and links. Since the protocol is open, general and extensible, functions are divided into three layers, i.e., application layer, data exchange layer and communication interface layer. And it can offer standby, redundancy and parallel modes. In order to apply it under the different communication conditions and meet the given requirements, a secure and reliable hybrid communication channel is engineered in remote monitoring system, such as large constructions. In so doing, the system failure caused by the interruption of single communication link can thus be avoided, and consequently the occurrence of major public safety accidents is largely prevented.
