Abstract :
Historical information regarding the invention of the autodyne and development of autodyne receiving method is presented. Brief biographical information about Henry Joseph Round, who was “an unknown genius” of radio engineering and an English inventor of the autodyne, is provided. The process of formation and development of scientific-technical field connected with the use of autodynes in receiving and transmitting radio communications, as well as the origin of the term “autodyne” are considered.
