Abstract :
DC-systems have been on the rise over the last years. The need for an effective surge and overvoltage protection for DC-systems increases accordingly. Both the current installation standards for SPDs and also the product standards mainly focus on the application of SPDs in AC-systems. Therefore this paper analyses based on measurements and calculations some of the specific requirements for SPDs in different DC-applications. Finally a new test field for DC-SPDs is introduced.
