Abstract
The authors study the effects of misestimates of the target range on the resulting image for an ISAR (inverse synthetic aperture radar) scenario with an approaching target. They also illustrate the importance of autofocus techniques for creating focused images from radar data for this scenario, and show how these techniques may be applied. Particular attention is given to the phase gradient autofocus algorithm. This algorithm was tested on simulated data and its effectiveness was demonstrated.<>
