Abstract :
In this study, a basic system which measures simultaneously a line of eye-gaze and a hand movement was developed in order to extract the skilled elements in calligraphy. This system consists of an eye mark recorder and a three-dimensional position measurement device. The coordinates of a line of eye-gaze and a hand movement were unified as a common coordinate system. Even if the head of a participant is not fixed during the measurement, this system enables us to calculate an eye position by preliminarily calibrating the physical relationship between a camera and a receiver of three-dimensional measurement device. To confirm the effectiveness of the developed system and to examine the accuracy of the system, the participants were required to watch fixation points under a different condition of the head posture. Using this system, calligraphic tasks were imposed on participants and verifying the potential for its application.
