Abstract :
We had examined a non-contact measurement method of respiratory movement under pedal stroke motion by using the projection of dot-matrix pattern light. By result of our past studies, it was indicated that the calculation of the systemic aerobic capacity was realized with the non-contact respiration measurement. We have applied the recumbent bicycle ergometer in the exercise tolerance test. The application of the upright bicycle ergometer, which is generally utilized in the rehabilitation institutes, was considered as one of challenges. The respiration measurement in the pedaling motion by the upright type seems to be difficult, since body motion increases in comparison with the recumbent type. In this study, we examined the feasibility of the non-contact respiration measurement in the pedaling motion by the upright bicycle ergometer. By simultaneous measurement with the expiration gas analyzer, we examined effectiveness of the proposal method. As the results, we clarified that the measurement value obtained by our proposal method show same change tendency equal to the ventilation volume measured by the expiration gas analyzer.
