Research on Backup and Recovery of Key Mechanism of PKI

As a network security infrastructure, PKI (public key infrastructure) has been widely applied in network security, but there are still lots of deficiencies with PKI. This paper studies the key-backup and key-recovery mechanism in PKI system. Aiming at the weakness of key management, such as strong dependence on Key managers, existent risks when the key is deposited alone and some insecure factors. Then the paper puts forward a new key-backup and key-recovery mechanism (SHM: Soft and Hard Mechanism) which applies hardware and believable third party to backup and recovery key, this mechanism lowers the risks of key backup and recovery.
