Title :
A community-scale microgrid demonstration: FortZED/RDSI
Author_Institution :
Engines & Energy Conversion Lab., Colorado State Univ., Fort Collins, CO, USA
Abstract :
From October 2008 through September 2011, a coalition of business, academia and public sector partners completed a distributed generation demonstration in Fort Collins, Colorado under the US Department of Energy´s Renewable and Distributed Systems Integration (RDSI) program. The project achieved its primary goals, albeit operating during a demonstration period that was reduced in length from the original proposal. Many of the most significant challenges, and resulting learning, derived from non-technical, economic, political and legal issues which were not directly anticipated in the original project submission.
