Abstract
This paper reports on the insulation ability of 10 kV opening bus by simulating the practical situation of Xiaolongkan substation in Shapingba district Chongqing City in China. Both the interference from relative humidity (RH=70%, 80%, 90%, 100%) plus acidity(pH=3,4,5,6) and the layout method of bus (horizontal and vertical) were studied to observe the performance of the AC insulation ability of the opening bus, which refers to the composite insulation ability of the air distant between phases and post insulators in this paper. It is found that with increasing RH, the flashover voltage of the bus first increases when RH<80%, then decreases rapidly when RH>80%. At the same time, with increasing pH, the flashover voltage of the bus increases. Moreover, when RH<80%, flashover takes place between phases, and when RH>90%, flashover takes place on the surface of post insulators. Constructive advice concerning the running safety of 10 kV opening buses in power systems is presented
