Abstract
An innovative approach is proposed to overcome the usual drawbacks of computation complexity and insufficient robustness that affect most of contextual image segmentation techniques. Through the definition of a new connectivity measure for fuzzy image subsets, a transformation of the original set of grey levels is performed that makes it simpler to outline region boundaries. It is demonstrated that there is no need of iterations to efficiently propagate global contextual information. Some results are presented that prove the effectiveness of the method
