Abstract :
This paper investigates the advantages of using an accelerometer for precision motion control. The accelerometer output provides an independent measurement of the motion, and may serve as a more accurate source of disturbance information than the position encoder. This additional measurement is advantageous during modeling and system identification as well as during real time control. A novel controller structure for minimal-time point-to-point control using the accelerometer is proposed. Experimental verifications are performed using the NSK linear motor testbed
