Abstract
With an expansion of social and economic activities, a role of advanced mobile communication systems like INMARSAT system becomes significant. We participated in a development program of transponders and subsystem of multi-beam satellite communications for the Japanese Engineering Test Satellite VI (ETS-VI) to be launched in 1993. This is the system for the S-band intersatellite communications. The system is a fully variable multi-beam antenna system utilizing a phased array with an on-board processor. This is the key technology for advanced mobile satellite communications. Now, these transponders and subsystem were tested and have succesfully completed under satellite system level tests. This paper describes the above and related development for mobile satellite communication transponders and systems.
