Abstract :
The authors describe a custom FM stereo decoder IC which does not require any external components or adjustments. The IC includes a combined analog/digital VCO and PPL (phase-locked loop), a switched capacitor sinewave multiplier, and a switched capacitor pilot detector and cancellation stage. An output signal-to-noise ratio greater than 80 dB and output distortion of less than 0.1% have been achieved. The IC is 26000 mil2 and is implemented in a 3-μm n-well BiCMOS process containing poly-to-poly capacitors and ion-implanted poly resistors
