Abstract
A comparative analysis of various interference mitigation techniques applied to ultra wideband (UWB) systems for reducing interference and enabling co-existence with WLAN systems (IEEE 802.11a) has been done. Different techniques have been identified, studied and compared with respect to the performance of the 802.11a system when these mitigation techniques are applied to UWB systems. A comparison of techniques used with and without multipath is also presented. A very novel approach proposed in J. Bellorado, et al (2004) involving the design of time hopping (TH) codes has also been tested with respect to performance of 802.11a system.
