Abstract :
A method of controlling the carbon dioxide concentration in an environmental plant growth chamber is proposed for use in investigations of the effect of CO2 concentration on growth rate. A discrete stochastic linear model is developed, and a control law based on the tracking problem of optimal control is used for minimizing the tracking error and the control effort. A Kalman-Bucy filter algorithm utilizing solar energy is developed to estimate the system states. A computer simulation demonstrates the effectiveness of the control law for the growth chamber
