Abstract
Two new network architectures are examined for support of personal communication services (PCS). One is an enhanced version of conventional CATV networks with interworking ATM switches. The other is a hierarchical mesh-type network with ATM interworking switches. Delays and throughput associated with signalling and carriage of mixed voice and data traffic are estimated, as is network subscriber coverage
