Abstract :
ALSTOM Transport has been a major actor in the Railway Industry for decades and has always been committed with its Clients and their National State Authorities, to deliver Railway Products and Maintenance Services with the highest standard of Railway Safety. Rail Business Actors must remain vigilant and continue to play a pro-active role to maintain the level of public safety confidence. High levels of safety being achieved, we must not ignore the fact that residual risks still remain. An aspect of the ALSTOM Transport continuous improvement program is to promote two key activities during the product development. Enhancing the safety design validation by applying safety oriented design code of practices and ensuring the outcomes of our system safety studies are transferred and endorsed by internal/external users such sourcing, industrialization, operation and maintenance. The present paper provides highlights on these two key activities along with a discussion on some specificities and recommendations for managing them. Furthermore, the Alstom Transport Safety Management System (SMS) is completed and updated.
