Abstract :
The paper aims to implement the DTC method for an induction motor using a parallel resonant inverter (PRDCL) to obtain an improved DTC. The utilization of the PRDCL allows high switching frequency operation which results in reduced torque ripple thereby improving the speed performance. Moreover, the flux ripple is reduced which results in low stator current ripple. At the same time the PRDCL offers a zero switching operation which means that the switching losses are very small. With the proposed scheme the DTC can be applied to medium power drives with improved performance without switching frequency limitation problem. Simulation results validate the proposed scheme. Experimental set up was done on 1.5 kW induction motor driven by PRDCL works at 70 kHz resonance frequency. Experimental results confirm the possibility to achieve a high dynamic performance with the proposed system
