Abstract :
Today´s mobile professionals must not only stay connected any time, anywhere and with anybody, but they must have the ability to communicate many types of information anywhere and with anybody. The accelerating trend in information appliances for people on the go is setting new standards. The latest advances in computer and communication technologies has made possible an entirely new breed of hand-held communications/information appliance. This article describes the communicator, and discusses the technical challenges of integrating a fully functional computer with an RF transmitter/receiver, modem, fax, etc. into the IBM Personal Communicator
