Abstract :
An experiment for the measurement of hydrological parameters by means of microwave radiometers was carried out in an agricultural area close to Florence, in Tuscany. The aim of the experiment was to compare the performances of different frequencies in estimating the soil moisture. The influence of moisture profile on the SMC retrieval at different frequencies was also considered. An algorithm able to retrieve SMC using both Tb at C-band (Θ=20°) and PI at X-band (Θ=50°) was tested and results have been compared with the soil moisture measured on ground and by the L-band sensor
