Abstract :
The performance of a code division multiple access (CDMA) spreading ALOHA access protocol, which could be applied to cellular digital network and personal communications services, is investigated. Exact analysis for such a system access protocol is extremely difficult. By using a Markov model, it is possible to derive upper and lower bounds of the throughput of the underlying system. Time-driven simulation is performed to investigate the tightness of the bounds. The results indicate that the upper bound is reasonably tight. Numerical results show that, unlike the conventional ALOHA system, the CDMA spreading mini-slotted ALOHA system provides better delay and throughput performance than the CDMA spreading slotted ALOHA system
