Abstract :
We present a coherent model to study radar backscattering by forested areas. This full wave model is based on complex summation of fields radiated by all forest contributors (leaves, branches, trunks, soil) at the observer locations. This fully coherent model uses outputs of a coupled incoherent one, which alleviates the computational effort. The models are described and the Fontainebleau forest briefly presented. We display the center phase height derived from interferometric complex coherence simulations using ground truth descriptions. The influence of parameters like frequency and polarisation is investigated
