Abstract :
On July 10th 2003 the Federal Communication Commission adopted changes to Part 68(a) of the Commissions rules governing hearing aid compatible telephones in Report and Order 01-309. Specifically this R&O addressed wireless handsets. The main thrust of the action was to address exemption of HAC requirements for digital wireless phones that had been in place since 1988 hearing aid compatibility. This paper presents Part 15 exemption from the regulation. The order as written is mainly geared for digital wireless phones that operate under Part 22 and Part 24 of the regulations and does not specifically address phones operating under Part 15. This currently means that unless for specific case´s most Part 15 phones are exempt from this regulation
