Abstract
The Newton method is a commonly used method to solve the AC power flow problems. However, it is too expensive to evaluate the Jacobian matrix explicitly for each Newton iteration. Thus, in this paper, we propose an efficient preconditioner construction strategy for the Newton-GMRES method without forming the Jacobian matrix explicitly to solve the AC power problems based on automatic differentiation. Compared to some other existing fast Newton-GMRES methods for power systems, our proposed method is much more efficient and robust.
