Abstract :
A simple formula is obtained for the evaluation of the maximum bending stress in an optical glass fiber whose ends are clamped and subjected to a lateral off-set. We consider a situation when the fiber is partially coated and/or partially metallized and therefore its flexural rigidity is not constant along its span
