  • Abstract
A novel method for determining the surface impedance of a rectangular isotropic strip is proposed. The impedance describes the relation between the displacement and stress distributions on one side of the strip if its other three sides are free from stresses. The calculation of that relation is most important for taking into account the mechanical influence of surface electrodes with finite thickness on the SAW device characteristics. The method is based on the known nonlinear integro-differential equation for the surface impedance, which relates exactly the impedance matrix with material parameters and the width and the thickness of the strip.
