  • Abstract
A novel method of detecting an earth fault on a DC system is by the principle of magnetic modulation is proposed in the paper. The method can determine not only individual leakage loop but also the special case of both positive bus wire and negative bus wire insulation fault simultaneously by putting a resistance into the DC bus. Finally, the good results are shown in the paper. The performance of the detecting apparatus is good in the selection loop and strong in anti-interference, as well as it not showing any effect on the DC system through the experiment
