  • Abstract
We have studied the information model and communication protocol for remote monitoring of power supply. The basic unit of monitoring information is a monitored object. A monitored object has 6 attributes. We use MNIB (monitoring information base) to organize monitored objects. MNIB take a tree-like shape. Each branch represents a group of monitored objects. And each leaf represents one monitored object. In the application layer of communication protocols, we devise a proprietary protocol, termed as PSRMP. The message of PSRMP protocol consists of three fields. PSRMP protocol operates in 4 modes. PSRMP message is represented by ASN.1 (abstract syntax notation one). TLV (type, length, value) approach is adopted to encode message for transmission. We use ARM7 as the processor of our RTUs. The MNIB and PSRMP are implemented on the top of C/OSII. We have developed a program for MNIB and PSRMP. This program takes a ROM space of about 940 bytes and a RAM space of about 730 bytes when running in PHILIPS LPC2132.
