Abstract
This paper considers a dynamical model of smart composite beams. Damages in the structural system are investigated and modelled as uncertainties in the structural parameters of the system by using the linear fractional transformations (LFT) technique, which provides a common framework for the design of robust active control systems. A robust controller is designed with the H∞ control theory, which is particularly suited to vibration control problems of flexible structures.
