Abstract :
The knowledge of the transfer characteristics of power line channels is fundamental for reliable data transmission using power line communications. In this paper, the transfer function of a four-conductor power line cable is analytically discussed and measurements of a straight power line cable are given for verification. Starting from multi-conductor transmission line theory, this paper first determines the line parameters and obtains an expression for the transfer function of a straight power line. Finally, a complex power delivery network is simplified based on the transmission matrix method.
