Abstract
Precision measurement methods or tools have many applications in the field of measurement, especially for subminiature parts that traditional tools cannot measure. In this paper, a novel measurement system using computer vision equipment is proposed to detect the sizes and roundness errors of taper bore holes in subminiature parts. This measurement system consists of computers, photoelectric microscopes, and CCD cameras. For images taken from ambiguous micro-environments, the Canny edge detection algorithm based on bilinear fuzzy enhancement is used to obtain the edge information of the holes of the taper bore in the subminiature parts. The experiments indicate that the computer vision method is a highly precise approach that eliminates the need for contact and can easily be automated.
