Abstract :
Thermoacoustic refrigeration equipment (TAR), wherein compression of the refrigerant is provided by a standing acoustic wave compressor, is introduced in this article. The standing acoustic wave compressor is endued an added task of supercooling the refrigerant, so that efficiency losses due to flashing are reduced. Simultaneously, a control circuit can be added to modify the discharge pressure in response to changing operating conditions, thereby maintaining the discharge pressure needed for condensation minimum at any time. Thus, the power consumption of the standing acoustic wave compressor is reduced and system efficiency is improved.
