Abstract
We propose a new trellis decoding method of long block codes. The trellis of a long block code is first sectionalized into several small trellises by using the multi-level squaring construction. An iterative algorithm is then applied to find the decoded codeword. The complexity of decoding can be greatly reduced without sacrificing the error performance.
