Abstract
France Telecom is installing fiber to the home lines at a rate of 100000 per year in twelve French cities. The system is primarily designed for cable TV and for interactive video services. Hardware, software and overall design are discussed. Technical and commercial results of four years of operation of the Biarritz broadband fiber system are given.<>
