  • Abstract
Highly roughened and catalytic macroporous Au with Pt nanoparticles (macroporous Au-/nPts) hybrid electrode was newly fabricated and characterized for compact nonenzymatic glucose biofuel cell (BFC) applications. Two disk type macroporous Au-/nPts hybrid electrodes were then sandwiched with Nafion film for fabricating a extremely miniaturized BFC device with a cathode and an anode electrodes. As expected, the newly fabricated hybrid electrode exhibited highly catalytic characteristics in various glucose concentrations. The fabricated BFC device also exhibited a high glucose power density of 22.2 μW/cm2 without being affected by interfering species.
