Abstract
Outlines the mechanical development of an aircraft deployed spar buoy, which was designed to serve as a moored stable platform for use in scientific studies. Design considerations, analysis and construction techniques are presented. The use and results of material and structural testing and evaluation will be discussed. The feasibility of helicopter deployment of large scale spar buoys will be examined
