Abstract :
We propose a novel wavelength division multiplexing passive optical network (WDM-PON) structure enabling multiple protections and dynamic wavelength allocation for optical network units (ONUs). In this scheme, an ONU can get protection from either of the ONUs connecting to it through dual fiber connections, which also serves to realize the bandwidth sharing for ONUs. Moreover, survivability of this network can be further enhanced by increasing the number of ONUs one ONU connects. We experimentally demonstrate the feasibility of the system by simulation in Optisystem.
