Abstract :
Stochastic true RMS instrument has a wide frequency range, since it works with short data, implied by the use of two-bit flash AD converters and a two-bit multiplier-accumulator. Such a simple hardware allows easy multichannel measurement. Both of the above requirements, wide frequency range and necessity of multichannel measurements, are substantial in the case of measurements on PWM drives. It is shown that the stochastic instrument measures PWM voltages, currents, powers and energies, at the fundamental frequency of 50 Hz, with the same accuracy as their sinusoidal counterparts. This accuracy can be extremely high.
