Abstract :
A novel concatenated coding scheme is proposed. First, an improved multilevel concatenated scheme based on set partitioning of a coset code is constructed by providing interlevel coding between adjacent blocks. Then, the associated scheme is further concatenated with an outer Reed-Solomon code. Significant coding gains can be attained by the proposed concatenated scheme while the decoding complexity is rather low.
