Abstract :
Symbols, which form a data pattern may be used to interrogate a control system using an information machine. This is called data measurement as it is the measurement equivalent of data communications. Phase shift keyed symbols with a narrowband range factor are used to design multifrequency binary sequences (MBS) for narrowband identification. Newly discovered Strathclyde ternary sequences (STS) are designed using known compact MBS with the aid of identification coding theorems, symbolic codes and phase shift keyed modulation. Both wideband and narrowband STS signals with range factors are designed. The variety of identifying data patterns with increasing range factors for these data measurement signals are investigated.
