  • Abstract
The direct temporal-domain approach can be applied for optical signal processing and pulse shaping with 2D ring resonator arrays. Using simulations, we demonstrate the generation of a 50 ps square-like waveform with 5 ps rising and falling times and a 40 ps flat-top period from a hyperbolic secant input pulse with 8 ps full width half maximum (FWHM). The results show that the rising and falling edges and the flat-top portion in the output waveform are well matched to the target with an extinction ratio of 25 dB. Although there are some small intensity fluctuations in the flat-top portion of the generated waveform, the peak-to-peak variations are less than 1 dB
