Abstract
The authors outline a knowledge elicitation tool, cognitive structure analysis (CSA), which is designed to elicit both the structure of experts´ knowledge as well as its content. The heart of CSA is a set of probes designed both to discriminate among potential knowledge structures the expert might be using and to elicit the content knowledge they contain. The authors discuss the theoretical foundations, methodology, and potential applications of CSA
