Abstract :
Hinfinity robust control techniques are applied to the pitch rate control of a modern combat aircraft. The linearized equations of motion are unstable and contain a low-frequency non-minimum phase zero. A novel technique is presented which allows a small degree of closed-loop instability thus avoiding the usual trade-offs inherent in such systems.
