Abstract :
The paper deals with an efficient energy management system that, starting from the analysis of current consumption patterns, suggests how to improve the overall energy efficiency of an industrial site. Implementation of an optimization system acting on the economy, energy and environment, leads to significant reductions of consumptions; consequently, costs and emissions are greatly limited. The aim is to evaluate how, through a management control which monitors the energy efficiency, production system can be improved. In addition to economic benefits for businesses, there are also advantages such as return on image and decrease of environmental impact. The proposed model considers a number of energy vectors as input. A monitoring system and a business plan are required; the approach identifies energy management key interventions and opportunities. A case study on a industrial site producing aluminum bars has been developed, that allows to evaluate the reliability and the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
